Roxanne Pallett is set to say goodbye to her new fiancé as she heads into the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The 35-year-old, best known for playing Jo Sugden in Emmerdale, announced her engagement to Lee Walton on Monday.

She could have to spend the next few weeks without him as she sets up residence in the famous abode.

But after securing a reported six-figure sum to go on the show, it seems like the sacrifice is definitely worth the payout.

Who is Roxanne and why is she famous?

Roxanne, 36, was born in Carlisle, Cumbria.

She studied for a degree in media at Liverpool John Moores University, but always had a passion for performing.

On weekends, she studied at the Manchester School of Screen Acting and started going along to auditions to make up for not going to stage school.

In her last year of university, Roxanne co-founded a girl band, called Urban Angel, and wrote songs with the help of former East 17 member Tony Mortimer.

She signed a recording contract and started work on a TV show that never made it to the screen, but her tenacious attitude saw her sign with her first agent in 2005 and catch the eye of bosses at ITV.

Roxanne went on to play feisty Jo Sugden in Emmerdale, winning critical acclaim for her domestic violence storyline in 2008 and 2009.

She starred on the soap for three years, picking up a number of award nominations along the way.

She’s also starred in Waterloo Road, Casualty and a string of horror movies, including Lake Placid 3, Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort anf Devil’s Tower, among other things.

Has she appeared on any other reality shows?

In 2005, Roxanne won an unaired episode of Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes at Gloria Estefan.

In 2006, she appeared on ITV singing contest Soapstar Superstar, finishing fourth and raise £70,000 for charity.

She also took part in the fourth series of Dancing On Ice in 2009.

Why has Roxanne been in the news lately?

Roxanne recently announced that she was engaged to steelworker Lee Walton just one week after they met.

Lee didn’t have a ring for the spontaneous proposal and instead the pair opted to get matching tattoos on their ring fingers.

The couple initially found each other through a mutual love of Elvis Presley and bonded online in the summer of 2017.

Roxanne has also been in the news recently for cheating death in a car crash in July .

She hit a wall at 40mph while racing her Minster FM radio show co-host Ben Fry at Hunmanby raceway, near Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

Firefighters called boyfriend Lee to rush to the scene to help to comfort Roxanne as they battled for two hours to cut her from the wreckage. She was then airlifted 40 miles to Hull Royal Infirmary.

Is she definitely doing Celebrity Big Brother?

According to reports in The Sun , Roxanne has secured a whopping £750,000 fee to appear on the show.
