First look at ITV's Masked Dancer with judges guessing Elton John and Shania Twain are behind the costumes

THE Masked Dancer is set to be a Saturday night hit with judgesguessing that Elton John and Shania Twain are behind the costumes.

The new ITV show is a spin-off of The Masked Singer which received huge rating success.

In a first look clip of the new talent show, viewers get a glimpse of the masked celebs on stage showing off their dance moves.

The judges have made some early guesses as to who the celebs might be.

Some famous names that have already been thrown about including pop superstar Elton John, actress Margot Robbie, former Countdown star Carol Vorderman and Canadian singer Shania Twain.

Viewers will have to work out which celebs are showing their sizzling steps on stage in these 12 bizarre outfits.

Set to air this month, the show will see Masked Singer judges Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan joined on the panel by Strictly ace Oti Mabuse.

The panellist will share their guesses with the viewers as they guess who is behind the elaborate costumes.

There will be a variety of new costumes including Squirrel, Viper, Zip, Rubber Chicken and Carwash.

They will also be joined by Knickerbocker Glory, Frog, Flamingo, Scarecrow, Beetroot, Beagle and Llama.

ITV say: "The new format will feature 12 celebrities stepping onto the dancefloor to take on character alter egos as they trip the light fantastic in a bid to wow the panel and confuse with their moves.

"Clue packages will accompany every Masked Dancer to help the panel and at home detectives crack the case of who the famous faces behind the masks are.

"From ballet to ballroom, salsa to swing and everything in between, the mystery line up will be dancing onto screens this Spring."

ITV viewers were kept entertained during lockdown with The Masked Singer, which will return for a third series.


An insider told the Daily Star: "After some discussions, ITV agreed to splash the cash for another series. The format is such a hit with viewers, so they know it'll be worth it.

"They are already making plans for when to film it and which celebs they'd love to sign up. They want the third series to be the best yet."

They also reported that Joel Dommett will return as host for the third run – and will received a generous pay packet for the role.

"Joel's popular with viewers so bosses are keen for him to stay on as host," the source added. "And they're prepared to bump up his fee to keep him."
