Miriam Margolyes and Alan Cumming are traveling around their homeland in their new Channel 4 series Miriam and Alan: Lost in Scotland. The show follows the acting duo as they travel around Scotland in a caravan, learning more about their own heritage. However, the first episode got off to a bumpy start when Miriam took issue with the toilet situation in the caravan and hit out at the film crew.

Channel 4 viewers watched Miriam and Alan kick off the first leg of their Scottish journey on Tuesday evening.

However, at one point in the episode things went awry when Miriam made an announcement.

“I want to have a sh*t,” Miriam declared, causing Alan to burst out laughing.

“I’m so sorry. Could I have my sh*t first?” the actress asked.

“Yes, I’m all for that,” Alan laughed, with Miriam replying: “Thanks. Thank you.”

However, as Miriam made her way into the toilet at the back of the caravan she suddenly discovered a problem.

“Why doesn’t the door shut?” She bellowed, with Alan explaining: “There’s a camera there.”

Looking up at the camera, a furious Miriam shouted: “Oh for f***s sake!”

Alan couldn’t help but laugh at his co-star as she snapped at the camera crew: “Get that f***ing thing off before I pull it off!

“I could have sh*t myself,” Miriam fumed.

Luckily, viewers found the whole scenario hilarious and took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the new series.
