The celebrity chef, who regularly causes chaos in the kitchen on This Morning, told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield he was heading off to Italy for a few months for a well-needed break. Gino decided to surprise his co-stars during Tuesday’s ITV programme when he admitted he was sad it was his last cooking segment for a while.

Gino ended up gatecrashing Holly and Phillip’s segment after he began wandering into their camera shot.

Holly quickly ordered him to get back as she asked: “Where are you going? Get back in the kitchen.”

“I was just walking around because I’m a little bit sad today because I’m going to go to Italy very soon in the next couple of days,” the TV chef began. “This is my last This Morning.”

“Until when?” Holly asked before Gino replied: “Until probably autumn, winter.”

Phillip sighed as he joked: “Thank God for that.”

“Unless you guys are going to come to the island of Sardinia, we may do something live there,” Gino continued.

“Why don’t you cook down the line for us from Sardinia,” Holly suggested.

Gino replied: “Maybe we can do something down the line, yes. Where is my camera, where is my audience, where are my fans?”

Speaking to his fans at home, the 45-year-old added: “Do not panic because I have got so many beautiful things for you guys.

“Just to let you know, today I’m going to do something with lemons.

“It’s going to be chicken with lemons, capers, a little bit of butter and then I am going to do a lemon dressing, that’s another thing I was thinking to do.”

Gino proceeded to walk around the studio and as he got to Holly and Phillip, he asked: “Why do I always have to stay in the kitchen?”

“We know you do what you want,” Phillip told him before Gino started reading off the autocue.

He said: “Next we have Prince Philip’s memorial service at 11.20am, don’t forget.”

Unsure what to do, Phillip and Holly agreed with the chef and just replied with: “Yeah!”

Viewers loved the fact Gino caused disruption to This Morning, and many took to social media to share their thoughts.

Mark penned: “Gino should replace Phil for a day and let’s see how Holly handles it with Gino.”

Tanya praised: “It’s just not normal if @Ginofantastico doesn’t disrupt something, it’s just TV gold, I can’t wait for later. I love you Gino xxxxx.” (sic)

Michelle tweeted: “Gino, just make sure you come back please! xx.” (sic)

While Claire Skipp pleaded: “Make Gino a presenter please.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
