GORDON Ramsay's wife Tana opened up about her devastating miscarriage at five months during an appearance on today's Loose Women.
The cookbook author suffered a heartbreaking late miscarriage in June 2016 and today revealed that they had named their late son Rocky.
The 46-year-old was on the ITV show for World Prematurity Day and shared her experience of having premature twins Jack and Holly, both 20, in the hope it would give some comfort to fellow parents of premature babies.
After sharing her experience, Tana discussed how she and Gordon had decided he wouldn't be present for the birth of the their first four children.
However, Tana said that changed when they lost their son Rocky in 2016 and explained how she couldn't have done it without Gordon, who was later present at their son Oscar's birth in 2019.
She said: "It's such a personal decision when you have a baby and this was 20 years ago.
"The way that I felt, the way Gordon felt, it was something we decided on together. He wasn't with me when I gave birth to Meg or the twins or Tilly.
"But now we're older and it's quite interesting because I lost a baby in 2016 and Gordon was with me throughout that entire process and there's no way I could have done it without him right there by my side," Tana shared.
"When we went on to have Oscar, 19 months ago, again he was right there by my side.
"I think you have to do what absolutely suits you and the one thing that Gordon and I are very good at doing is communicating, everyone knows he's good at chatting.
"It's really made me, what has happened has made me come out of my shell.
Naturally I'm a bit more of a private person but through different things we've gone through, like losing our little boy Rocky," she revealed.
"I've learnt actually that sharing my experiences, it has brought so many people forward to tell me about their experiences and I found that really comforting."
The telly chef, 54, and Tana were left heartbroken when she miscarried their son five months into her pregnancy in 2016.
Announcing the sad news on Facebook at the time, Gordon wrote: "Hi guys, Tana and I want to thank you so much for your support over the past couple of weeks.
"We had a devastating weekend as Tana has sadly miscarried our son at five months.
"We're together healing as a family, but we want to thank everyone again for all your amazing support and well wishes.
"I’d especially like to send a big thank you to the amazing team at Portland Hospital for everything they’ve done. Gx".
Opening up about their loss in 2016, Gordon told the Daily Mail's Weekend magazine: "We were devastated but thankfully we’re through the worst of it now.
"We’d been so excited and proud… and then there was this awful shock. Losing the baby brought us all so much closer.
He said famous pals David and Victoria Beckham were among those to offer support to the grieving family.
"You don’t realise until it happens to you how many people are affected. Sadly it happens every day," he continued.
"You realise how lucky you are and you reflect on what you have, how fortunate you are with your remaining children, and you remind yourself of what you’ve got."
Following their tragedy, the couple, who are also parents to Megan, 22, Matilda, 19, and twins Jack and Holly, 20, welcomed 19-month-old son Oscar.
