Hollyoaks fans shocked as Liam saves Glenn by killing Jay

Hollyoaks fans were shocked tonight as Liam Donovan saved Glenn by killing Jay Johnson.

Liam made a dramatic return to the soap to rescue his dad after he was released from hospital.

But viewers didn’t recognise the killer as he had changed face.

Hollyoaks bosses had recast Liam with Jude Monk McGowan taking over the role from this week.

He replaced previous star Maxim Baldry who left the village a year ago.

Hollyoaks fans took to Twitter after watching the explosive scenes.

One viewer said: "Just when I thought we were getting rid of Glenn. LOL WHY?! Why do you do this to us? How long before he gets whats coming to him??"

Another added: "Nice one Liam. We could have been free of Glenn, but no."

A third said: "Liam my boys back oh I’ve missed you"

Glenn was released from hospital and was getting to hijack the ATM in a final blaze of glory.

Grace had other ideas and set up her own plan to get rid of Glenn for good.

Later, Jay met Glenn in the forest to go through with their plan, throwing smoke bombs to hijack the van.

After stealing the can, Jay pulled the gun out on Glenn to kill him for abusing Grace.

However, just as he was about to pull the trigger, Jay was shot dead.

Liam had returned to save his dad from death.

* Hollyoaks continues on Monday on E4 at 7pm
