Speaking about their romance on a recent episode of This Morning, Ace said: “We were very similar people, we grew up with similar backgrounds, we both took our clothes off for a living.
“We were selling stories. I was Ace in Gladiators and I thought I was something special.”
The ripped TV star has now turned to religion, and branded himself a "disciple of Jesus."

The pair had been dating since 2002.
They met on a night out – and the fact that Scott ignored the glamour model caught her attention.
Yet as soon as Katie stepped foot Down Under their relationship was doomed to fail – with the star locking eyes with eventual husband Peter Andre amid the landscape of critters and creatures.
PETER ANDRE
Katie appeared to have finally bagged her fairytale happy ending when she found love with Mysterious Girl hitmaker Peter.
After meeting on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2004 they soon got together and married in a lavish ceremony in September 2005 at Highclere Castle.
They had a reality show Katie And Peter (renamed from Jordan and Peter) which ran from 2004 to 2009, during which they were seen having and raising their children, Princess and Junior.
The duo also branched into music and recorded an album together called A Whole New World – which peaked at 20 on the UK Album Chart.
Yet despite their picture-perfect romance the pair split in 2009.
In the days that followed their split in May 2009, it was claimed they'd had a huge bust up after she was caught on a secret night out with her hunky riding instructor Andrew Gould.
Hoping to keep her partying with Andrew a secret amid claims of Pete's "jealousy", she was forced to come clean when she was pictured on the front page of the newspaper with him.
Back in 2017 – despite her relationships since – she told how Pete was the only love of her life.
ALEX REID
Katie met MMA fighter and cross-dresser Alex Reid in 2009.
The pair got hitched in Las Vegas in February 2010 after seven months of dating, and just nine months after she divorced Peter.
Some dubbed their Stateside nuptials "tacky" yet Katie looked glam in a huge white puffball gown for the occasion with a sparkling tiara decorating her hair.
The ceremony was organised while Alex was in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
Yet less than a year later Katie confirmed their split, saying, "We all make mistakes, and this was one."
LEANDRO PENNA
Katie began dating Leandro in 2011 after meeting at the Oscars.
Model Leandro and the then mum-of-three announced their engagement in April 2012.
But by October 2012 Katie said she and Leandro had "mutually" decided to end their relationship.
The catwalk star and TV presenter sensationally said the pair split due to Simon Cowell.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Leandro claimed that Katie did not return from “business meeting” with Simon until the following morning – leading him to believe she had slept with the music mogul.
KIERAN HAYLER
Former stripper Kieran was to be Katie's third and final husband to date.
The pair met over online chat service Blackberry Messenger and began chatting just two months before they tied the knot.
Kieran proposed on Christmas Day 2012 and the couple married in the Bahamas on January 16, 2013.
The following March, they had their wedding blessed in Weston-super-Mare.
Yet things spiralled downward fast in 2014 after she discovered Kieran had cheated on her with her best friend.
They renewed their vows in 2015 after two years of marriage, however the couple filed for divorce in 2018.
Katie thought the divorce was finalised in March 2021, but the the decree absolute did not come through until July the same year.
The pair share two children, Jett and Bunny.
Yet their bad blood continued, with Katie blasting her ex as "disgusting" earlier this year in a catty swipe.
KRIS BOYSON
Katie put an appearance on ITV daytime show Loose Women to good use as she revealed her engagement to PT Kris.
The pair met through former Love Island star Rykard Jenkins in early May 2018,
She told the talk show: "Kris bought the ring for that finger, so there you go, I’ve got love in my life. We [Kieran] would never have split up if he behaved himself.
"The thing is, he puts me in my place, he's strict with me and I'm not used to that. He's a good guy, he's so good with Harvey [her first son with footballer Dwight Yorke.] Harvey is obsessed with him."
Yet it wasn't to be, as Katie split with Kris in November 2019, just a day before she was declared bankrupt.
CARL WOODS
Katie – and her loyal fans – hoped that former Love Island star Carl would have been the eighth time lucky.
The pair became engaged in April 2021 – with Katie sweetly saying she saw her future with the Essex lad because he would "look after" her if she never worked again.
Yet it has been a rocky road since she accepted the businessman's proposal.
The on-again, off-again pair revealed they were giving their another shot in June.
Two months later, they divulged plans for a secret wedding.
“Katie is planning on having a secret wedding with Carl, then a big party afterwards,” a source told OK!. “It will be soon. She loves the thrill of getting married and wants to do it again.”
But one person who isn't happy is her mum Amy, who previously made it clear she isn't Carl's biggest fan.
Yet just last month, things appeared to be on the rocks again as they were caught in an embarrassing brawl – with their antics captured on camera.
It now appears that Katie has split from Carl is single yet again as it was revealed by her daughter Bunny.
After months of speculation, the nine-year-old announced the news live on TikTok.
Bunny read out a question on screen that was sent in from a fanduring the live broadcast: "Hello Kate, are you single?"
Bunny looked at the camera and directly answered the fan as she said: "Yes she is."
However, Katie has yet to officially confirm she's single after the on/off relationship for the past three years.
