James Haskell has broken his silence on his split from wife Chloe Madeley after five years of marriage.
The couple secretly split back in September – just 13 months after the birth of their daughter, Bodhi – but have only now made it public.
On Saturday night, 38 year old James shared the same statement Chloe shared with The Sun, and added: “It's with a lot of sadness I write this post, but unfortunately, in the world we live in, it has to be done.
“My priority is my daughter’s and Chloe’s happiness and security. For that reason, I won't be commenting any further.”
Chloe, 36, shared his post on her social media as well.
In an emotional joint statement, Chloe told The Sun: “James and I mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023.
“We had not planned on releasing a statement at this time – certainly not while the television show was airing – but constant speculation about our marriage has, unfortunately, forced our hand.
“Beyond this statement, we will not be speaking about this matter publicly, and we would request privacy at this time.
“Our sole focus now is our beautiful daughter. We shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love.”
Their shock split comes as the daughter of TV icons Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan's new ITV reality TV show, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair, airs on screens.
During each episode, personal trainer Chloe opens the door and allows viewers see an insight into her life and family.
In recent months, however, the couple have faced constant speculation over the status of their relationship ever since the former rugby star was been spotted chatting with a mystery blonde outside London's posh Chiltern Firehouse on Thursday, 12 October.
The fitness instructor then appeared to have added more fuel to the fire this week in a recent Instagram post. She appeared to take a cryptic swipe at her now ex-husband when she hinted at their split during a Q&A session as she encouraged her fans to ask her what is on their mind.
When one fan queried how she deals with the constant media attention, Chloe replied with an in-depth answer but chose to leave out any mention of James.
She responded: "It's to be expected with a TV show out tbh.
"100% focused on my daughter, my friends, my family, my work, my health, my reality. That's how [love heart emoji]."
