Jennie McAlpine has confessed she’s left Coronation Street bosses "frantically" panicking with her pregnancy news.
Last week, Jennie announced she’s pregnant with her and husband Chris Farr’s second child – three and a half years after giving birth to son Albert.
The Corrie favourite, who plays lovable Fiz Stape, has left the script writers with a massive headache as they will be forced to write her character out of the soap for the second time in a year.
The soap actress joked that they could use a basket of laundry, before teasing that Fiz herself may get pregnant.
Fiz has endured a horrendous few months, which saw her leave her family at Christmas to look after her ill mum, before discovering Tyrone had sex with Gemma.
Speaking of how Coronation Street will hide her pregnancy on screen, she said: “Basket of laundry… I do a lot of that anyway. And then, after a bit, the directors think, I don’t know what to do with this now. We’re going to have to do that – big coats. Unless Fiz gets pregnant. Who knows?
“I don’t know, I’ve just sprung it on them. I think they’re frantically thinking about what to do now. There’s a bit more of those teary scenes in the next few months anyway, so we could just have a few more of those.”
The timing of Jennie’s news led many of her fans to cheekily speculate that she and Chris may have conceived after she returned from the jungle last December.
The I’m A Celebrity campmate admitted: "It’s quite quick after. A few people have suggested that."
Jennie confirmed the happy news on Twitter on Sunday, telling her followers: "We’ve got a bit of news.
"[O]ur baby boy is going to be a big brother later this year. We can’t wait to meet you precious one x," she added.
Speaking about a typo in her tweet, she said: “So, we’re due October. Although on Twitter when I said it, a few people were confused because I did a little typo because I have baby brain.. I still have baby brain from the last one who is three and a half, I still blame everything I do wrong on saying I just had a baby…
“I said ‘pur little boy’ instead of ‘our little boy’, so people thought the cat was having a baby, but it’s me.”
Jennie later teased the baby may indeed have a name inspired by the soap.
But her first son Albert may have something to say about that as he thinks he’s got the job of naming the new baby.
She added: “Probably named after a Coronation Street character, like Albert was. Not on purpose, but all the gorgeous names, they’ve all been in Coronation Street. So probably that.”
