Schoolchildren from around London came together to run a mile around the ITV Studios – but one took a tumble on live TV which could not be ignored.
This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield stood with klaxon in hand, ready to start a run with children from neighbouring schools.
The run was to raise awareness for The Daily Mile, an initiative which sees schoolchildren completely a mile’s run a day in their uniform to get kids fit and healthy, but this mile had a little casualty.
As Phil readied the klaxon to mark the start of the mile, he shouted: "Don’t fall over!"
But the children were full of beans and ready to go, so when he hit the buzzer, it was only moments before a child plummeted to the floor and was subsequently trampled by his classmates.
The kids continued to run and eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the young man stood up, but for a little while there was no confirmation from the ITV team that he was OK.
Fans immediately took to social media to check their eyes were not deceiving them.
One said: "Did anyone else see one of the kids falling over? Also I agree with running however not in school uniform! Especially in this weather #ThisMorning"
Another added: "don’t fall over! says Phil. Two seconds into run, kid stumbles… Outch. Oops."
Later in the show Holly and Phil confirmed the child was "perfectly fine" after talking to teachers and trainers about the positive aspects of taking part in the run.
This Morning airs from 10.30am weekdays on ITV.
