Laura Whitmore has quit her job as the presenter of ITV's Love Island after three years.

The Irish TV presenter, 37, had hosted the hit ITV2 dating show since 2020, when she took over the role from her late friend Caroline Flack who sadly passed away earlier that year.

However, Laura announced on Monday (August 22) that she had decided to leave the show as she found parts of the job "really difficult".

The star admitted she struggled with "certain elements" of the show's format that couldn't be changed, such as having to fly back and forth to South Africa to film the show.

Taking to Instagram, Laura said: "Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love island.

"There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

"I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series."

Laura concluded her post with a sweet message addressed to her late pal Caroline.

She added: "I hope I did you proud Caroline."

An ITV spokesperson said of Laura: "Laura has been a fantastic host across the last three series of the show.

"We are so grateful for everything she has brought to the programme but understand and respect her decision, and we look forward to working with her on upcoming ITV projects."

ITV are yet to reveal who will replace Laura on the next series of the show.

Laura took over the Love Island job from Caroline Flack for the winter series, which was shot in South Africa in January 2020.
