Megan Barton Hanson was certainly one of the most talked about Love Island contestants from this year’s series.
It’s fair to say that her seriously sassy entrance into the villa caused a right old stir, both with the islanders and the viewers at home. We mean, talk about FLAMES.
That was a fiiiierce last-minute entrance from Megan! 🔥 Buzzing for tomorrow night. #LoveIsland

But when her attention moved between a few different fellas (and one of them, it has to be said, was in a pretty solid coupling on the show), viewer opinion seemed to nose dive. Yup, the whole thing held the stench of sexism.
Having fallen head-over-heels for Wes Nelson over the weeks, the pair are now in an IRL relationship and, according to Twitter, it looks as though a lot of people seem to have changed their mind on the reality star. And it’s about damn time, if you ask us.
“I love people trying to explain why they hate Megan on love island because ‘she’s a slut’ when really it’s just them admitting they have an internalised hatred of women doing what they want,” one viewer wrote.
Others hailed her journey as the “glow up of the season”, noting that she really did find herself whilst on the show (and there’s some strong language ahead, FYI).
Despite the change of heart, it wasn’t quite enough, and Megan and Wes finished in fourth place in the final.
Josh Denzel and Kazimir Crossley came third, but Laura Anderson and Paul Knops’ runner-up position seems to have caused quite a lot of upset amongst fans of the show.
You probably don’t need us to tell you that Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer have become your Love Island 2018 winners – but we’re just waiting for them to land their own spin-off show now.
Love Island: The Reunion Show will air this Sunday (August 5) at 9pm on ITV2.
