Love Island fans are sure that Jacques O'Neill's entrance is "staged", and reckon Gemma Owen was warned ahead of time by show bosses.

During Sunday's episode (June 12), Jacques entered the villa and was immediately sent on two dates with Afia and Paige. But with the other girls watching from the rooftop, Gemma yelled: "Oh my God, no, no, no, that's my ex-boyfriend."

But fans don't think her surprise rang quite true, and are sure that Gemma already knew her former flame was coming into the Majorcan paradise.

Taking to Reddit, one eagle-eyed viewer wrote: "Something makes me feel this is staged by what Gemma has just been saying… feels like subtle hints to Paige that she knows who it is."

Another added: "Paige’s reaction seemed weirdly reserved after finding out she was literally on a date with Gemma’s ex lmao," as another fan replied: "Yes I thought that, seemed like she already knew or something??"

Someone else fumed: "How did the producers even find out that they dated? It’s too staged."

As another posted: "ITV deffo planned this. This looks staged af!"

"These dates are so staged. Mans is not even turning around and his neck is fixed. Who doesn’t turn to say goodbye," a sixth said.

Jacques admitted that things hadn't ended amicably between the pair, telling the girls that things were "salty" on Gemma's side of the break-up.

The explosive trailer saw Jacques swipe at Gemma, as the pair sat down together for a candid chat.

Turning his attention to Gemma’s new flame Luca Bish, Jacques confessed: “I like him, you know.”

Gemma clarified: “Luca?” as he responded: “I like him, yeah.”

Gemma then went on to say: “Yeah, you are pretty similar.”

But Jacques wasn't pulling his punches as he brutally responded: "Yeah, that's probably why you like him, isn't it?"

Looking like she disagreed with his statement, Gemma simply replied: “Hmm,” averting her eyes and raising her eyebrows in the very awkward chat.

Love Island airs nightly from 9pm on ITV2.
