After more than six months of waiting, Lucifer season five, part two is finally here. Kevin Alejandro reprised his role as Detective Dan Espinoza, known as Detective Douche to Lucifer. Sadly, Dan met an unfortunate end in episode 15 of Lucifer season five but what happened and is Kevin Alejandro leaving Lucifer? Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.
What happened to Dan?
Detective Dan Espinoza throughout his police career has faced death on numerous occasions.
In season five, Lucifer even tricked Dan into believing he was on the brink of death as revenge for shooting him after finding out he was the devil.
Dan also died for a hot second in part two of season five, when God shook his hand and made him explode into pieces, before bringing him very quickly back to life.
Sadly, in a turn of events, the Lucifam did not see coming, Dan was killed by a dangerous criminal named Carl.
The killing was orchestrated by Michael, who wanted to make Chloe feel responsible for Dan’s death in the hope her guilt would send her to hell when she died.
With Chloe in hell, Michael hoped Lucifer would return to rule over hell so he could be with Chloe, which would mean he would take the throne in heaven.
A death was teased by showrunners Idly Modrovich and Joe Henderson ahead of the season five premiere, but no one prepared audiences for it to be Dan.
Fans have been sharing their reaction to Dan’s death online.
One fan tweeted: “OMG I KNOW I ALWAYS SAID DAN WOULD GET SHOT AND DIE BUT I DIDNT MEAN IT WTF IM CRYING.”
A second fan said: “im actually sobbing dan is actually dead I feel like throwing up.”
A third fan added: “Dan. My heart is broken bye I want to die.”

Is Kevin Alejandro leaving Lucifer?
Fans were really shocked to learn Dan had died, considering Alejandro was definitely named as returning for the sixth and final series of Lucifer.
Not only will Alejandro return as part of the show’s cast, but he is also serving as a director on several episodes.
There is the possibility Dan will feature in flashbacks but this is Lucifer and anything can happen.
Dan is currently in hell and there is a huge possibility Lucifer, now that he is God, could venture down to bring him back to Earth.
Although this has never been done before for a human, it is unknown at the moment just how far Lucifer’s new powers can stretch.
Additionally, Lucifer and Amenadiel have both visited hell in the past, so it is possible they could visit Dan and somehow bring him back to Earth.
On the other hand, Lucifer let Michael live, granting him a “second chance”.
What if the guilt became too much for Michael he himself ventured to hell to swap places with Dan?
Fans will have to wait until season six arrives later this year to find out.
