The final scenes of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again made sure they topped the first film with a whole cast rendition of ‘Super Trouper’.
But the all-singing, all-dancing moment almost wasn’t in the film, as it was only a last minute addition.
Mamma Mia 2 producer Judy Craymer admitted she couldn’t decide on a finale song, but made the costume designers prepare outfits anyway.
“It was always the question of, ‘What’s the finale?'” she told IndieWire. “It wasn’t in the script that went out. [ABBA members] Björn [Ulvaeus] and Benny [Andersson] said, ‘No, don’t repeat ‘Dancing Queen’.’
“Okay, ‘Dancing Queen’, enough. We were like, ‘What song?'”
She added: “I knew that we needed a costume, so I said to Michele Clapton, our fabulous costume designer, ‘Whatever happens, start designing something now. It’s going to be spandex. It’s going to be platform boots.
“It’s our big nod to ABBA, but we don’t know what it is yet. But just get on with the design.'”
Despite having a seriously messed up timeline and a few big plot holes, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again has been getting rave reviews.
Despite this, star Amanda Seyfried isn’t keen on doing a third film.
The sequel sees her reunite with ex-boyfriend Dominic Cooper to play couple Sky and Sophie.
The pair dated for two years after the original film before splitting up – something Cher was delighted about.
Discussing the icon’s part in the movie, Cooper said: “She took one look at me and didn’t trust me at all – and told me so herself, which I laughed out loud at.
“After Amanda (Seyfried, his co-star and ex-girlfriend) made it clear that we used to, once upon a time, be together, Cher said [to Amanda], ‘You dodged a bullet there.’ She said it as a joke, but she thinks she knows me very well, the type of person I am.”
