MARTIN Compston and Suranne Jones front first trailer for tense new BBC thriller Vigil.
The brand new six-part series is from the same creators of Line of Duty and Bodyguard.
BBC One has now released the trailer for the highly-anticipated thriller, based on tracking a deadly war between the police and military.
The first look clip shows Suranne, who plays DCI Amy Silva taking control of an investigation, after a sailor was found dead on the Royal Navy submarine HMS Vigil.
Amy faces her fears after she is tasked with going to the submarine to lead the investigation at sea.
Viewers see Amy make the terrifying journey in a helicopter before she is lowered down to the submarine.
DCI Amy appears horror-stricken as she makes her way down, with a sinister caption appearing on screen that read: "The deeper you go…the darker it gets."
The ex Doctor Foster star also features alongside Line of Duty's Martin and Game of Thrones Rose Leslie.
The trailer shows Martin's character speaking directly to the camera saying: "There are 20 different ways you can kill a vigils coup single-handed.
The series which was filmed in Dumbarton, Scotland earlier this year, is written and created by Bafta-nominated writer Tom Edge who is known for The Crown.
It focuses on a mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on-board a Trident nuclear submarine.
The incidents bring the police into conflict with the Navy and British security services.
Suranne leads the cast as DCI Amy Silva, who leads an investigation on land and at sea – looking into a conspiracy that threatens the very heart of Britain’s nuclear deterrent.
Suranne told the BBC: “Tom Edge has created a thrill of a story, set in a world I knew nothing about. The cast and crew World Productions have put together to tell this story is so exciting.
"Amy Silva is a brilliantly complex character, thrown into a highly charged situation where her authority is weakened.
"We watch as she navigates her own personal trauma and loss, all at a time when she’s questioning her relationships and life choices. It feels fresh and relevant and I can’t wait to start filming.”
The star-studded cast also includes Shaun Evans from ITV's Endeavour and Anjli Mohindra who appeared in the Bodyguard.
They’ll be joined by Paterson Joseph, Connor Swindells, Adam James and Gary Lewis.
The trailer will air on BBC One tonight.
