NCIS Hawaii kicked off for the first time in September 2021 on CBS and has had fans raving about it ever since. The drama follows the Hawaii-based NCIS team with Agent Jane Tennant (played by Vanessa Lachey) leading the way. But unlike those from the other shows in the franchise, Jane has more than just work to think about.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from NCIS Hawaii.
Jane is NCIS Hawaii’s equivalent to NCIS’ Agents Leroy Gibbs (Mark Harmon), G Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula).
She is the one that the rest of the team looks to for guidance when things get tough during investigations.
As well as her role in the agency, Jane is a single mum of two, eager to try and give her equal attention to her children Julie (Mahina Napoleon) and Alex Tennant (Kian Talan).
While Julie has adapted quickly to their new lifestyle, Alex is still struggling to adjust.
On top of Jane’s time-consuming work, she is also separated from their dad Daniel Tennant (Anthony Ruivivar).
He is starting a new family with someone else and Alex has been feeling left out of both of his parents’ lives, so much so that he has started to lash out.
She takes both her jobs, as an agent and a mum, very seriously but things haven’t always gone according to plan.
Actor Kian Talan, who portrays Alex in NCIS Hawaii, has had to work very closely with Lachey to depict their conflicting relationship.
He opened up to Express.co.uk about what it’s really like to work with the 41-year-old star.
Talan explained: “It is so funny because Vanessa in real life versus Jane Tennant is the complete opposite.
“Like Vanessa is such a goofball, she’ll be like dancing and singing and making jokes and always having a good time.
“She definitely lifts up everyone’s morale and energy which is so great to be around.”

Talan continued: “She’s also such a humble person and has been such a joy to work with because I work with her a tonne.
“I’m so lucky that she gets to be my mum and she’s such a goof!”
But how will Jane and Alex’s relationship develop as the CBS drama continues?
Fans are going to have to wait a little longer than normal for the latest episode.
NCIS Hawaii typically airs every Monday on CBS but this won’t be the case next week.
In fact, it won’t be for the next several weeks as the drama is taking a hiatus.
This is because CBS is shaking up its schedule to make way for the Winter Olympics 2022 in Beijing.
NCIS Hawaii returns on Monday, February 28, on CBS in America. A UK release date hasn’t been announced.
