If you’re one of the many who binge-watched season one of The Umbrella Academy, you’re likely waiting for season two to come out and fixate you in front of your television screen (for hours on end) once again. The Umbrella Academy was an action-packed twist on the superhero genre, presenting a group of dysfunctional and disbanded super siblings reunited to prevent an apocalypse.
While the entire cast is deserving of praise, many fans tuned in to watch Klaus Hargreeves, and bear witness to the many shenanigans The Seance got into. So, if you’re a fan of Robert Sheehan, and need a little more Sheehan in your life before The Umbrella Academy season two makes its way to Netflix, this is the list for you. It’s time for a Robert Sheehan marathon.
‘Misfits’ (2009 – 2013): Hulu
If you love Robert Sheehan and have yet to hear about Misfits, you may not be able to call yourself a true fan. Misfits was a British television series featuring five juvenile offenders forced to work together on a community service project. When a freak electrical storm grants them all superpowers, their differing personalities become the least of their problems.
Robert Sheehan stars as the sarcastic and quick-tongued Nathan Young, who – granted with immortality – often gets compared to Sheehan’s character on The Umbrella Academy. So, if you’re looking to see Sheehan don a suit similar to the one he wears on the Netflix original, this is likely the best pick for you.
‘Mortal Engines’ (2018): Amazon Prime Video
Mortal Engines takes place hundreds of years after civilization is destroyed. Hester Shaw (portrayed by Hera Hilmar) emerges as the only woman capable of stopping London, which is now a destructive city on wheels, from taking out everything in its path.
Robert Sheehan plays Tom Natsworthy in the sci-fi thriller: a London outcast whom Hester Shaw joins forces with to help save the day and prevent the future from going down an unforgiving path (literally and metaphorically).
‘Love/Hate’ (2010 – 2014): Amazon Prime Video
Love/Hate was an Irish dramatic television series originally broadcast on RTÉ Television. The quick and overarching synopsis: a catastrophe leads to gang tensions, and as a result, friends and family of a small community must come to deal with the impact.
Robert Sheehan and Ruth Negga’s chemistry is said to be very intense in this show. So, if you’re craving a little steamy romance with your dose of Sheehan, this may be the right choice. Aiden Gillen, Peter Coonan, Killian Scott, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, and Charlie Murphy round out the main ensemble.
‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ (2013): Free on Crackle
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opened to extremely negative critical reviews, and is a bit trite concerning the fantasy genre. So, if you’re looking for substance with your Sheehan, this may not be the best pick. However, it does boast some pretty enjoyable moments.
How does it start? Ordinary teenager Clary Fray (Lily Collins) learns that she descends from a long line of Shadowhunters – half-angel warriors responsible for protecting humanity from the forces of evil (there’s the cliche aspect). She soon discovers that she must find and protect an ancient cup that holds the key to her mother’s future.
Robert Sheehan stars as Simon Lewis: one of the Shadowhunters, who, prior to having his life changed forever, was a self-proclaimed geek and member of a garage band. Not exactly like Klaus, but you will still get to see Sheehan’s perfect face.
