The gritty crime drama will be available to watch on video-on-demand service BBC iPlayer following the initial broadcast.

Fans can also livestream Peaky Blinders season five on BBC Two via BBC iPlayer.

The show is most likely to be available on Netflix some time after broadcast on the BBC but fans might be waiting for a little while.

Season four was broadcast last year on the BBC and arrived on Netflix at the end of last year.

Currently seasons one to four are available to watch on Netflix in the UK.

When will Peaky Blinders season 5 be released?

Peaky Blinders season five will be making its highly-anticipated return this year.

The BBC confirmed the release date on social media back in December 2017, shortly after the shocking season four finale.

“CONFIRMED: #PeakyBlinders will return to @BBCTwo in 2019,” read a post from the official Peaky Blinders Twitter account, which is run by the programme-makers behind the drama.

While there’s no exact air date, creator Steve Knight hinted at a spring release date.

During an interview with, he explained: “So I’m going to start writing [season five] very soon and we will start shooting it next year. We will start shooting in the autumn.

“It will be the normal turn around, it would be [airing in] spring of 2019.”

What will happen in Peaky Blinders season 5?

The fifth run will pick up from the event of season four, which saw Birmingham kingpin Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy) elevated to the status of a local politician.

“It’s set in ’29 into the 30s. Tommy is now a politician, so it’s about some of the political developments that were happening that will eventually lead to the Second World War.”

Season five is also likely to look at the expansion of Shelby Ltd. after the mafia clan joined forces with Al Capone.

There’s scope for the show to go to America as the Shelbys work with the renowned gangster and go international with their business.

There have also been theories that Capone could be making an appearance in season five and even serve as the new villain of Peaky Blinders.

However, Knight has ruled out any appearances from Al Capone or the series going to America.

Will there be another season of Peaky Blinders?

The BBC hasn’t officially announced if there will be a Peaky Blinders season six and it appears the cast and crew aren’t sure either.

Amid suggestions Tommy Shelby getting killed out, lead star Murphy, 41, recently said on RTÉ Radio 1’s Today with Seán O’Rourke: “Yeah, they’re going to do one more [series] next year.”

However, Knight also previously explained: “So in my mind it’s probable that we’ll get there at the end of series five, it may be series six.”

He continued: “It’s possible, the momentum of this show is quite extraordinary in that it seems to be getting bigger and more popular and there seems to be more energy with each one.

“So none of us want to shortchange it, so if we feel that after five there’s another one – there’s talk of a film and all sorts of things – so we just want to do justice to the people who love it.”

Peaky Blinders season 5 will air on BBC Two in 2019.
