Power Book III: Raising Kanan has showcased the origin story of infamous Power Universe character Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis). Set in the ’90s in Queens, New York, this series follows 15-year-old Kanan and his family and friends. His mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas’ (Patina Miller) is a drug queenpin who runs her organization with her brothers, Lou Lou (Malcolm Mays) and Marvin (London Brown).
We all know how close Kanan was with his cousin Jukebox (Hailey Kilgore), so in many ways, this is her origin story as well. Throughout season 1, we’ve watched Kanan begin making a name for himself in his mother’s organization and in the streets.
Now with the season finale, things are set to explode.

Here are some ‘Raising Kanan’ Season 1 finale spoilers
Thus far, we know that Raising Kanan has been renewed for season 2. Since the second season is already filming and we’ve seen the trajectory of Kanan’s life throughout Power Seasons 2-5, we know that Raq, Kanan, Jukebox, Marvin, and Lou Lou will live to see another day. However, from the looks of the season 1 finale teaser trailer, everyone else fate is uncertain.
As we know, Unique (Joey Bada$$) and Raq are at war. Not only are their men fighting in the streets, but Raq has also set Unique up to take the fall for killing Detective Malcolm Howard (Omar Epps). In episode 109, we watched Kanan shoot the detective in cold blood at his mother’s command. However, it looks like Malcolm may survive. If he does, the secret about Kanan’s paternity is bound to come out in the season finale.
We also know that Marvin has just had a horrific fight with Jukebox. We also know that Toni (AnnaLynne McCord), the club manager he’d been sleeping with is trying to set him up. Marvin could be headed to jail. The press release for season 2, shows that he will be forced into anger management classes. We also know that Jukebox’s mom Kenya (LeToya Luckett), is set to entire the storyline.
More than that, it appears that Raq is about to lose her right hand in Lou Lou. The youngest Thomas sibling has become increasingly disillusioned with the game. Though he barely survived the attack from Unique, we can hear him screaming at his sister in the teaser trailer. If he turns his back on his sister, it could give him the chance to take music seriously.
50 Cent says Breeze won’t appear in the season 1 finale
As we know, Breeze is an important character in the Power Universe. Sometime between 1991 and 1996, Kanan teams up with Breeze and together the men form their own drug organization. This means, Raq’s business with Marvin and Lou Lou is bound to crumble we’re just not sure when.
Together, Kanan and Breeze take James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) under their wings, and the young men quickly rise through the ranks. Breeze is the one who gives Ghost his nickname. However, when Breeze prevents Ghost from getting a bigger chunk of the business, Ghost kills him and he sets Kanan up to go to jail.
Fans have been hoping to see Breeze in Raising Kanan and now 50 Cent is revealing if he will. “Those characters could possibly pop up in Raising Kanan,” he told Express of Breeze, Tommy, and Ghost. However, don’t expect any of them to appear in the season 1 finale.
“Not before the end of this season, but there’s a possibility to bring in young Ghost, young Tommy, and Breeze,” 50 Cent added. “We’re already on a journey, it explains the monster you saw in me playing Kanan,” he continued. “The trauma, everything he’s gone through.”
