GMB: Richard Madeley on Holly Willoughby leaving This Morning
Former This Morning presenter Richard Madeley joined Good Morning Britain to discuss Holly Willoughby’s departure from the show and said she would “come back eventually”.
Speaking to Ed Balls and Susanna Reid, he explained: “We know that Holly puts her family first, as you do, she puts her family first and her career second and that really is the order.
“People watching don’t know that and see Holly as the professional, but she does put it first and I think given the year that she has had, all the things that she has had to put up with and then this terrible thing that happened last week that I know we can’t talk about.
“Given that she has done the show for 14 years, I think it has given her a chance to step back and take stock. She has put her family first for a while.
“She’ll come back, not to This Morning but she’ll come back and do something else on TV.”

Susanna later added: “ITV said she still remains an important part of the ITV family, she hasn’t left television altogether.”
Reiterating his confidence in Holly, Richard stated: “She will be back, no question about it.”
Holly announced her departure from This Morning on her Instagram account yesterday afternoon, making the decision to leave for her “family”.
She wrote: “I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.
“To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much. This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together.

“Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.
“Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day.
“Richard and Judy said, ‘We only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers.’ It’s been an honour to just be part of it’s story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.
“Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much. Holly.” (sic)
