Rylan Clark opened up about his glamorous job working behind a makeup counter before his stardom and was scolded by a co-star as he told a story.

The straight talking star spoke about his time in retail on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch after the hosts tried to play a game to figure out who once worked in Sports Direct.

They incorrectly guessed Rylan as it was actually fellow guest Melissa Saint who used to work in the sports store and she began to recall her time there.

She told her co-stars that she had a "great team" but Rylan was more interested in what she got up to behind the scenes.

Rylan quizzed her: "Did you rob a lot?"

Melissa adamantly exclaimed that she never got up to any mischief, but Rylan was more than happy to admit his cheeky behaviour.

The former Big Brother star began to explain: "That's the only exciting thing about working in retail, isn't it?"

The Sunday Brunch hosts told him off and Rylan continued: "I used to work in cosmetics, I used to love it! That's why I wore the apron," as he made a gesture with his arms to imply that he swept products off the counter and into his pocket.

The studio erupted in laughter at Rylan's sassy quip and attempted to continue with the show.

Rylan own over audiences in a frank and honest chat about himself and many viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the star.

One wrote: "Rylan always comes over as a nice bloke, his recent experiences underline that. We all go through dark times and listening to him talking about them was interesting this morning on Sunday Brunch."

Another simply noted that it had been a "great interview" with him.

Rylan recently appeared on The One Show and opened up about his ex-husband.

The 33-year-old and his husband, Dan Neal, decided to part ways after a six year marriage.

Clark admitted that he became "so ill" after their split and admitted that he had a hard time writing about the ordeal in his new memoir.
