Spoilers: Adam discovers that Rick is dead in Corrie

We always knew that the dead body of Rick Neelan would have to resurface to haunt reformed criminal Gary Windass (Mikey North) at some point in Coronation Street and now it seems like that time may have come when Adam Barlow’s (Sam Robertson) digging bears fruit.

Gary has tried to move on with his life since getting together with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) but crimes have a way of catching up and the arrival of Rick’s family on the scene has brought Gary no end of heartache.

The gangster turned furniture connoisseur has been paying Laura cash for her daughter Kelly’s upbringing, apparently from Rick.

But Gary is beginning to run out of moolah and he has raised the suspicions of Adam, who knows he is up to his neck in it but just needs to prove it.

Growing deliberately close to Laura, Adam discovers that it’s Gary who pays on behalf of Rick but he never lets her know where Rick is.

With Gary seemingly being the only one with any links to Rick, Adam has also discovered the source of the cash and reaches his one and only conclusion – that Rick is dead and Gary killed him.

Adam shares his theories with Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) and then can’t help himself but confront Gary – accusing him of murder. Gary is shaken but acts dismissive, telling Adam he is way off. But it’s clear how Adam’s breakthrough has made him nervous that the truth will come to light.

And that’s not Gary’s only problem either when he overhears an excited Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) talking about the potential of finding old coins buried in the woods where Rick’s body has been left.

Gary puts him off the idea but when Brian sees Gary hurrying off with a shovel in his car, he and Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) go in pursuit, convinced that Gary is after the treasure himself.

But when they get to the woods, will they discover what Gary really intends to dig up?
