EastEnders is set to tear more than one family apart over the Christmas and New Year period and have cryptically teased one of the show’s biggest ever secrets, which is set to have catastrophic consequences for those involved. But who has done what – and is someone dead?
By the time that Christmas is done with, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is fully in the picture when it comes to Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) being the father of Sharon’s (Letitia Dean) baby. As his revenge has far reaching ramifications, violence follows and blood is spilled but how far will things go? As Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) wants answers over the events of Christmas, the lives of Sharon and Keanu are shattered – but could Keanu end up killed in a final showdown, leaving the Mitchells with a body to hide?
Meanwhile, the Carters are facing nightmares of their own as Linda’s (Kellie Bright) drinking spirals out of control and she binges herself into oblivion at a new year party. Despite friends advising her to stop, she ends up in a serious situation – one that puts both her life and the future of her family in jeopardy. Is there any way back for her and Mick (Danny Dyer)?
Elsewhere, Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) has more doubts than ever about Gray (Toby Alexander Smith) and, when he discovers that she has purposefully scuppered their vow renewal, he sets one up at the Taylor household, before springing an unsettling ‘honeymoon’ on his wife. As it becomes clear that he might be planning something sinister, Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) picks up on tension.
But will the Taylors be forced to take drastic action to save Chantelle from Gray’s grips?
And, finally, Martin Fowler (James Bye) is at his wits end after a job with Tubbs goes badly wrong and he has evidence to dispose of. And when he then ends up wielding a gun at Linda and Keanu and a shot rings out, has he committed murder? And can he cover it up?
At the end of the new year week, families will be in tatters and a spokesperson for the soap teased: ‘More than one family is torn apart following the past events of Christmas Day and despite Walford’s biggest secret being exposed, an even bigger one has now formed. Only a handful of people know the truth and whether or not it will remain hidden, only time will tell. One thing is certain however, if it ever did come out, the consequences would be catastrophic…’
