Gary Windass (Mikey North) saved Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) from death in Coronation Street, but in doing so, he put himself in danger as he was knocked down, leaving viewers wondering if he’ll die.
With Sarah’s interest having been piqued following Bernie’s (Jane Hazlegrove) attempt to sell her a watch she found in Beacon woods, she set about confronting Gary.
You see, Gary desperately wanted that watch, and with Adam (Sam Robertson) having put doubts in her head in regards to Rick Neelan’s (Greg Wood) disappearance, she was determined to get answers.
Sarah questioned Gary outside the factory about his desire to purchase the watch, and before long, she asked him if he’d killed Rick.
The walls were closing in on Gary, but he attempted to cover his tracks with more lies — that is, until Sarah discovered the shovels in the back of his van and put two and two together.
A desperate Gary came clean — revealing that he killed Rick and buried his body in Beacon woods — but he attempted to make Sarah see that he did so to protect her and the kids.
Sarah was speechless — all the more so when he revealed that he’s still in love with her — and thus she made a decision.
She removed her phone from her bag and hightailed it out of there, as she dialled the police.
Gary gave chase, but Sarah found herself in danger when a car came hurtling towards her, and thus Gary swooped into action — pushing her out of the way.
However, in doing so, he was knocked down by the oncoming vehicle and ended up out cold on the cobbles — leaving Sarah concerned that he’d died in the process of saving her.
Is this the end of Gary?
Or will he live to see another day?
Regardless, will Sarah reveal that Gary killed Rick?
This sequence featured the world’s first socially distanced stunt, and — in typical Corrie fashion — it was executed exceptionally well!
Coronation Street continues Wednesday 29 July at 7:30pm on ITV.
