Set before the events in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, ‘Star Wars Resistance’ centers on Kaz, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance for a top-secret mission.
Disney Channel has unearthed the first trailer for its new animated show “Star Wars Resistance” for viewing pleasure. The new footage gives fans a better look at the upcoming prequel to 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens“.
The trailer focus on Kazuda “Kaz” Xiono (Christopher Sean) as he dreams to be an ace pilot. “Can you imagine what it’s like to be an ace pilot?” he says in the beginning of the 1-minute video, which also glimpses a slew of familiar faces from “Star Wars” franchise.
Kaz is later seen getting a top-secret. “Blend in, find out who’s loyal to the good guys and who isn’t,” Poe (Oscar Isaac) tells Kaz. The trailer later glimpses the scenes of him working as a mechanic while carrying out the mission in undercover.
The trailers continues showing off several aircrafts and featuring action-packed scenes.
Set before the events in “The Force Awakens”, “Star Wars Resistance” centers on Kaz, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance for a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. Poe and his droid BB-8 assign him to the Colossus, a massive aircraft re-fueling platform on an outer-rim water planet that’s home to colorful new aliens, droids and creatures.
While undercover, Kaz works as a mechanic and lives with Poe’s old friend Yeager (Scott Lawrence), a veteran pilot who operates a starship repair shop. That’s when he meets Yeager’s crew, which includes Tam (Suzie McGrath), Neeku (Josh Brener) and their old battered astromech droid, Bucket. It doesn’t take long until Kaz finds himself in over his head with his newfound friend BB-8. Kaz is thrown into dangerous sky races while keeping his mission a secret as he tries avoid the danger of the First Order.
Also lending their voices on “Star Wars Resistance” are Gwendoline Christie, Donald Faison, Jim Rash, Bobby Moynihan, Gwendoline Christie, Myrna Velasco and Rachel Butera.
Created by “Star Wars Rebel” showrunner Dave Filoni, the new animated series is executive producers by Athena Portillo and Justin Ridge (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars“, “Star Wars Rebels”) as well as Brandon Auman (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles“. Meanwhile, Amy Beth Christenson serves as art director.
“Star Wars Resistance” is slated to premiere on October 7 at 10 P.M. on Disney Channel, DisneyNOW, and Disney VOD.
