Strictly professionals reunite for first day of 2018 rehearsals as axed Brendan Cole wishes them 'all the best'

It comes as Brendan Cole wished them 'all the best' on their first day back after he was axed from the show after 15 years.

A mixture of dancers beamed for the camera wearing their work-out gear including household names like Anton Du Beke, Karen Clifton, Gorka Marquez, Oti Mabuse and Pasha Kovalev, Janette Manrara,  Giovanni Pernice,  AJ Pritchard, and Aljaž Škorjanec.

The newbies looked equally as excited to be in the team including  Nadiya Bychkova, Neil Jones, Amy Dowden,  and Dianne Buswell.

However one famous face was missing – Brendan, who was dumped from the show earlier this year after clashing with new judge Shirley Ballas.

Brendan , 42,  showed there were no hard feelings as he went topless from his luxurious holiday in Majorca to deliver a personal message to his former colleges on Instagram.

He said: "This is a message for all my Strictly friends who are back in the studio today.

"It's day one of Season 16. Guys wishing you all the best for the brand new season.

"New guys, congratulations for joining the show, you're going to have a ball. To my old friends, miss you lots and I can't wait to see and hear what you've been up to, and we'll catch up very very soon. Lots of love."

The ex-Strictly pro revealed the moment he knew his career on the BBC show was over when he mocked new judge Shirley Ballas.

The dancer said his "cards were marked" during an appearance on the spin-off show It Takes Two with Zoe Ball.

He admitted he had done wrong in a new episode of John Bishop: In Conversation With, saying: "I went, ‘I’d imagine she’s more likely to be wanting to impress us, I’ve been on the show 15 years, she’s just showed up’.

“Of course Shirley has seen it and gone ‘you little s***’.

“I knew the error of my ways as soon as I came off air.

“I sent her a message saying, ‘Didn’t mean any offence, just making good telly’. I didn’t get a reply.”

Previously the Sun revealed how Brendan had told pals Shirley tried to bed him.

A show insider said: “Brendan bragged that she tried it on with him as his teacher years ago.

"He claimed she once flirted with him. He said she had no idea what she was talking about and constantly questioned her judgement."

Meanwhile the professional dancers have got together to kick start rehearsals for the famous family show which will be back this autumn.
