Strictly Come Dancing contestant Dan Walker was left in hysterics on Monday's episode of BBC Breakfast as co-star Carol Kirkwood was dragged to the floor by a guide dog while live on TV.

During the segment, which was filmed in Chelsea, London, Carol, 59, was pulled over by the "strong" pet pooch called Flash, which even resulted in the presenter losing her earpiece.

At the start of the TV coverage, Carol joked that Flash appeared to take a liking to BBC Breakfast's cameraman before the guide dog ran off, dragging her over in the process.

To which a laughing Dan, 44, joked: "She's gone! We've got a Kirkwood down, someone save Carol!"

With a giggling Carol regaining her composure as she put her earpiece back in, replying: "Flash is strong! Yeah, she's a very strong girl, Flash, she went back to her trainer Mel on the other side of the camera."

After the episode, the presenter took to her Twitter to tweet: "Flash is absolutely adorable (and neither of us got hurt!!) xxx" followed by heart emojis.

Viewers were also left in hysterics over the scenes as they tweeted about how hilarious the moment was.

With one person tweeting: "Carol Kirkwood is a Monday mood! #BBCBreakfast."

It comes after BBC Breakfast presenter and Strictly contestant Dan was taken to hospital on Friday 17 September after hitting his head on a glass window.

Dan, 44, shared the news as he posted a snap of himself on his Instagram page, which showed him sitting in a chair whilst wearing a face covering.

Dan then explained the image to fans as he revealed that he had hit his head and went to A&E after "feeling a bit wobbly".

He wrote: "Bit of head-based drama today! After whacking my noggin on the big glass window yesterday, I got sent to A & E today because I was feeling a bit wobbly."

Presenter Dan also revealed that he had a CT scan done to "check for a bleed on the brain".

As he praised the medical staff who helped him, Dan explained: "A lovely nurse at Barnet Hospital called Karina checked my vitals and 6ft 9 Consultant Erik Witt gave me a CT scan to check for a bleed on the brain.
