The Chase viewers have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 6th Chaser for some time now after it was announced earlier this year that former contestant Darragh Ennis was joining the team. In brand-new episodes of the ITV quiz show, he will join the likes of Mark ’The Beast Labbett, 55, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, 62, Shaun ’The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace, 60, Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha, 50, and Jenny ’The Vixen’ Ryan, 38, in trying to defeat a team of players. In Monday’s edition of the programme, fans got their first glimpse of the star, with the show’s official Instagram page sharing the tease before he makes his debut in upcoming instalments.
Host Bradley Walsh, 60, is seen in the short clip telling a contestant who they could be taking on in their head-to-head round.
After hinting it could be one of the five quiz-masters already established on the show, the presenter says: “Or team, could we be taking on mystery brain box from somewhere on the planet?”
Captioning the post, the commentary reads: “Everyone has been asking about it, and today you got a glimpse of what is to come with a look at the new Chaser’s silhouette.
“You’re going to want to keep watching future episodes to find out more #TheChase,” the caption continued.
Viewers instantly replied to the huge teaser, with one fan asking: “When is the new Chaser appearing?”
Another wrote: “Where’s the new chaser?!” whilst a third commented: “It’s clearly gonna be Friday and most people know who it is anyway.”
A fourth remarked: “How cool. Can’t wait to see Darragh in action,” with a fifth adding: “Thought it was gonna be today’s episode due to the social media hints.”
“You’re teasing us all, @itvchase!! I wonder who the mystery brain box is from somewhere on the Planet?” a sixth posted.
Whilst a seventh shared: “So, any ideas what the new chasers title will be? I’m going along the lines of ‘the scientist’ or something to do with bones?”
I’m really excited to be the 6th Chaser
Darragh announced his new role on Twitter back in April, having made his first appearance as a contestant back in 2017.
In view of his 3,900 followers, the new Chaser wrote: “I’m really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase.
“I’ve been working hard on this for a while now and can’t wait for my episodes to air. Well, the ones I win anyway.”
Paul replied: “The night before the producers told us, Anne and Mark and I sat at dinner and pondered ‘Could it be a former contestant?’”

“I said, ‘If it is, the best player I faced was an Irish guy who looked a bit like Micky Flanagan’. Welcome to the club mate,” The Sinnerman said.
It’s been five years since a new Chaser was added to the team, with The Vixen star Jenny being the last back in 2015.
The Beast star Mark previously explained having a new addition to the team would make it “more difficult” for the other quiz-masters to have a role on the show.
“I’m gutted about it, to be honest. We only get paid for when we work so a new Chaser means less work,” he said.
“There will be a point where I can’t afford to do it any more. I’ll have to go back to teaching,” Mark added.
“Last year we only filmed half as Bradley Walsh was on Doctor Who and if I didn’t have other work it would be really tough,” he told The Sun.
During his time as a contestant on the programme, Darragh managed to accumulate £9,000 in his cash-builder round.
Unfortunately, his fellow teammates took minus offers which meant the jackpot decreased significantly.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
