After last week’s very unofficial leak, The Flash has finally given fans their first proper look at Barry Allen’s new costume.
Actor Grant Gustin, who was recently forced to confront body-shamers after an image of the suit was leaked, revealed the latest speedster suit in all its glory on Instagram.
“First OFFICIAL look at Barry’s new threads for season 5”, he told fans, who were very much impressed with the new look – apart from the missing chin strap, of course.

Last week, an off-guard photo was shared online showing Gustin in the revamped Flash suit, but some fans insisted the actor looked too thin in the new outfit. Even though he’s meant to be built for speed and all.
In a candid post on Instagram, the actor called the leak “bullshit” before stating that body-shaming anyone, in whatever way, is not OK. “That’s what pisses me off,” he wrote.
“I’ve had 20+ years of kids and adults telling me or my parents I was too thin. I’ve had my own journey of accepting it. But there’s a double standard where it’s ok to talk shit about a dudes body.”
Fortunately, whether The Flash looks too slim in his suit isn’t an issue for The CW’s President Mark Pedowtiz, who recently confirmed that the DC TV series is here to stay.
Speaking at TCA 2018, Pedowitz confirmed that there are “no plans yet to end” Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow or Supergirl, plus the unconnected Black Lightning.
The Flash season 5 begins on Tuesday, October 9 at 8/7c on The CW.
