Viewers of ITV's The Masked Dancer have "worked out" the identity of the show's Pearly King contestant.

Pearly King took to the stage to show off his impressive dance moves and after his performance and a set of clues, fans of the programme were instantly convinced they had rumbled his identity.

With the initials "DD" being all around the set, the costume being quintessentially east end, and cockney rhyming slang being used throughout – the viewers (and even some of the judges) had it sussed… supposedly.

Fans were instantly convinced that the Pearly King was Danny Dyer – who plays pub landlord in BBC One's EastEnders.

"Pearly king – Danny Dyer or Shane Richie #TheMaskedDancer," speculated one viewer.

Another said: "Why do I immediately think Pearly King is Danny Dyer? Haha #TheMaskedDancer."

"Pearly King has got to be Danny Dyer right? #TheMaskedDancer," asked a third.

While a fourth said: "Lion is Danny Dyer. Eastenders King (he has Royal blood) #TheMaskedDancer."

And a fifth noted: "Eastenders , dd – Danny Dyer , and the movement. Obviously danny dyer in my eyes."

Oti Mabuse had a similar train of thought as viewers, and was totally behind the Danny Dyer theory.

But not all of the judges were convinced.

Jonathan Ross thought that the Pearly King might be David Dickinson.

And he stood by this theory even more so after the Pearly King gave a clue about feeling "confident" with his "mane" – which hinted at a healthy head of hair.

David Dickinson is known for his iconic hair, which is why Jonathan then became even more adamant with his guess.

After performing against Onomatopoeia, fans in the studio audience voted in favour of the Pearly King's rival – meaning he is in the firing line for being booted off the show.
