FOR most of us, a sunshine break abroad is nothing more than a distant memory.
But, as Covid restrictions tighten again and millions of Brits face a new lockdown, tone deaf celebs are still living it up on luxury holidays around the world.
Abbey Clancy has deleted snaps taken on a festive family holiday in Dubai, after a backlash from Brits stuck at home, and Simon Cowell is currently enjoying his annual trip to Barbados.
They’re not the only ones jetting off to the sun while we face months more misery at home, with destinations including St Barts and the Maldives top of the high-end Christmas holiday list.
We take a look at the celebs escaping the Covid restrictions – and whether they have broken the rules.
Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch – Dubai
The A-list couple enjoyed a break in Dubai over Christmas, jetting out before Tier 4 restrictions on travel came into place.
Abbey, 34, posted snaps of 39-year-old footballer Peter posing with their four children – Sophia, nine, Liberty, five, Johnny, two, and Jack, 18 months – beside the pool at the five-star Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort, which costs £2,800 a night.
She wrote: "Feel so lucky to have had such a wonderful Christmas with my family and friends."
Another picture saw Sophia in a first-class plane seat sipping an orange juice.
But Abbey deleted the pictures after furious Brits accused her of being tone deaf.
One commented: "It is so disappointing to see celebrities continue to jet off on their extravagant holidays whilst the rest of us abide by the rules and stay home to protect the NHS and the vulnerable."
RULE BREAKERS? The family left for UAE on December 14 before Tier 4 restrictions came into place.
Dubai is one very few holiday destinations that can still be visited without quarantine.
Simon Cowell – Barbados
Simon’s annual Christmas break in Barbados went ahead as planned, despite the Covid restrictions.
The TV mogul, 61, was seen riding a jet ski, four months after he broke his back falling off an electric bike in LA.
He was also pictured on the beach with wife Lauren Silverman and their son Eric, six.
RULE BREAKER? Simon travelled to the Caribbean island from Los Angeles, where there are no travel restrictions.
However, as the US is considered a high risk country, he was required to take Covid tests before and after arrival and quarantine in a government approved villa before a second test result.
Simon's rep confirmed the star has been on the island since November andfollowed all the necessary quarantine rules on arrival.
Vogue Williams and Spencer Matthews – St Barts
Reality stars Vogue Williams and Spencer Matthews escaped to St Barts for a family Christmas.
The couple were seen shopping for groceries on December 23, and the 35-year-old model was seen running on the beach on the sunshine island.
She posted family pictures on Christmas Eve but it was not possible to tell which country she was in at the time.
The couple are thought to have flown out with their children, Theodore, two and Gigi, five months, to spend time with Spencer’s family, who own the Eden Rocks luxury resort on the Island.
So far, Vogue has avoided posting holiday snaps on her Instagram, despite being a frequent social media user.
RULE BREAKERS? Vogue was seen in London on December 20, after Tier 4 restrictions came into effect, advising against all but essential travel.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office also advises against non-essential travel to St Martin and St Barts and travellers need to have negative tests within 72 hours of getting on a plane.
Vogue's rep is yet to reply to a request for comment.
Yazmin Oukhellou and James Lock – Dubai
Yazmin’s followers asked “Are you exempt from Tier 4?" after she announced the couple were jetting off to Dubai just before Christmas.
The TOWIE star has since posted glamorous pics from the swanky Marriott hotel – the tallest in the world – and downing cocktails in the plush La Mezcaleria bar.
She also posted a snap of herself cuddling Santa on the beach.
The 26-year-old defended her trip saying: “Obviously we'll make the most of it while we're here as well. But we are here for business purposes.”
But followers slammed her for posting “insensitive” pictures of her break, with one writing: “Tier 4 I can’t see my 90 year old grandma Christmas Eve and Boxing Day but you can go on holiday/work abroad!”
RULE BREAKERS? Brits are allowed to travel abroad from a Tier 4 area for work purposes.
Providing the break can be classed as a business trip, the couple have not breached the rules.
Amber Gill and Kaz Crossley – Dubai
Love Island star Amber Gill flew to Dubai just before new restrictions hit London and has been there ever since.
She was joined in the luxury resort by fellow Love Islander Kaz Crossley.
She claimed she was confused by the new levels, adding: “Just want to put it out there. I had no idea Tier 4 was a thing…
“The flight here was booked way before I thought the changes were being made, on the 16th, meaning I was still allowed to travel for work…
“I have no idea what I'm doing. I was only supposed to be here for 4 days. Now I don't know where I'm supposed to go or if I should stay here. It's all mad.”
Amber took to Instagram stories to explain to fans that she was holding back on posting holiday snaps because she didn't want to be 'tone deaf'.
But as she filmed her video explanation, 26-year-old Kaz shocked her by shouting “f*** them”.
RULE BREAKERS? Having left before Tier 4 restrictions and travelled to Dubai for modelling work, the pair do not appear to have breached the rules.
Molly Mae Hague and Tommy Fury – Maldives
The Love Island lovebirds were flooded with angry messages after flying off to Dubai and then the Maldives in time for Christmas.
Molly-Mae, 21, posted a video of the pair on a plane to Dubai “to join every mum, cat and their dog out there.”
Removing her mask to talk, she added “I can’t wait”.
On Christmas Eve she posted a snap of herself wading in the clear blue sea, saying “Woke up in my favourite place in the world. The Maldives.”
RULE BREAKERS? Molly-Mae insisted she didn't break any rules, as the couple left their Manchester home under Tier 2 COVID-19 restrictions which allows travel.
The Maldives requires visitors to take tests before and after entering the islands but only requires “non-tourists” to self-isolate.
Spencer Morgan – Barbados
Piers Morgan's son Spencer sparked outrage by jetting to Barbados – after escaping London's "cancelled Christmas".
The 27-year-old had already admitted travelling from Tier 4 London to the family's Tier 2 home in East Sussex for festive celebrations.
But the area was upgraded to the highest lockdown on Boxing Day, meaning unnecessary travel is banned.
Even so, Spencer uploaded a topless snap to his Instagram page today as he bragged that he was seeing out the year in sunny Barbados.
RULE BREAKER? Travelling from a Tier 4 area for anything other than travel or education is not allowed.
Piers Morgans rep did not respond to The Sun's request for comment.
