Audition scripts for the upcoming adaptation of The Witcher Saga have leaked online, and fans of the original books – and even games – are a little concerned.
The good news? They really needn’t be.
The scripts in question have supposedly leaked on Reddit, and they feature two scenes involving Yennefer and Geralt, and Yennefer and a king. While that might sound harmless enough, Den of Geek is reporting that Yennefer and Geralt are portrayed as witty and attractive, and we can’t be having that.
Fortunately, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has proved once again that she’s the right person to lead The Witcher into development, and has reassured fans that the leaks “are not real scenes or scenarios”.
“Remember when I said that casting sides would leak and not to worry because they are not real scenes or scenarios or even storylines from the show?
“It happened,” she wrote on Twitter. “As we knew it would. Don’t worry. All is okay in the #Witcher world.”
This isn’t the first comforting update Hissrich has given fans. Back in April, Lauren promised that The Witcher wouldn’t arrive until it was perfect, suggesting 2020 for a release date.
“We’re moving quickly ahead with everything — like, my head is spinning around Exorcist-style, except with enthusiasm, not evil possession — but one thing is certain: quality comes before speed.”
