TV legend Les Dennis fears death as he turns 67

TV legend Les Dennis has admitted that he has become more aware of mortality now that he has turned 67 – as his father died at the age of 66.

The presenter and actor – known for roles in Coronation Street, Brookside, Extras and as the host of Family Fortunes – celebrated his birthday but shared on Twitter that his dad’s passing was on his mind.

He told his followers: ‘My last day of being 66 coming to an end. My dad was just 66 when he died.

‘Mortality sinks in as we pass these milestones. These are weird times but I’m blessed to have an amazing family. Thank you lovely ones. 67 here I come.’

Les played Eileen Grimshaw’s (Sue Cleaver) and Gail Platt’s (Helen Worth) doomed partner Michael Rodwell in Corrie before being left to die by evil killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre).

A firm Corrie fan, he is also known for his on point Mavis Riley impression, using her ‘I don’t really know’ catchphrase.

Earlier this year, he took it in good fun when he trended on Twitter because people were sharing fake meetings with him after he received an abusive tweet from someone who claimed he had been rude – during an incident that never happened.

Happy birthday, Les!
