Vigil viewers lash out at 'confusing' plot as Amy is left fighting for her life in shock scenes

VIGIL viewers have hit out at the show's 'confusing' plot as Amy is left fighting for her life.

The shock scenes came as the penultimate episode aired on BBC during Sunday evening, leaving those watching unsure of the programme's direction.

The action kicked off with the coxswain Elliot Glover (Shaun Evans) revealed as the person behind the gas mask, who came charging towards DCI Amy Silva ( Suranne Jones) when she discovered the chef (Anita Vettesse) poisoned in the food cupboard.

But despite appearances, Glover declared he was attempting to save her from possible contamination.

Struggling to keep up, one viewer wrote on Twitter: "#vigil Been watching this five weeks in and still don’t have a feckin clue who’s who ? And what’s going on ??

"All I know is Steve Arnot died within five minutes of the show starting and he was the main reason why I was watching in first place".

A second commented: "Gone a bit Dr Who. Totally jumped the shark".

While a third said: "My dad has watched this show intently for the previous 4 episodes and to him, right now, the biggest question is "how fresh are those eggs? #vigil".

As the fifth episode of the six-part series went on, there were further complaints when the potentially infected coxswain stepped out from the shower and ended up locking lips with the submarine doctor Docherty (Anjli Mohindra).

One viewer raged: "ur telling me a DOCTOR on this mf submarine thought someone had been exposed to a NERVE AGENT and she figured it was time one last kiss??!?! #vigil".

Another quipped: "You may have contracted a fatal contaminant/nerve agent which I've just confirmed we have no treatment for on board the submarine.

'FAR-FETCHED'

"Hold still whilst I kiss you before resuming my duties as senior medic. For the love of God #vigil".

The show then ended with a cliffhanger which showed Amy fighting for her life while trapped in a torpedo tube filling up with water.

"#Vigil Can't wait for the next episode, how much more ridiculous can this get," asked one viewer on Twitter.

Another commented: "Tense ending to that episode of #Vigil there! Bit far-fetched now."
