It’s been confirmed that Holly Willoughby will be keeping Ant McPartlin’s shoes warm, taking his presenting spot alongside Declan Donnelly for this year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
ITV announced the news on Wednesday morning (August 29), with Holly saying that she “couldn’t be more excited” as she is a “a huge fan” of the show. As a close friend of Ant’s, she also offered her well-wishes.
“I love Ant and want to send him my best wishes and support for a continued recovery,” Holly said.
Now that this question has been answered, we have another burning one: who is going to take Holly’s place on This Morning while she’s Down Under?
Of course Mollie King and Rochelle Humes have both taken a presenting seat over the summer, but here are some of the most likely contenders…
The Britain’s Got Talent judge likes to pop up on This Morning every once in a while.
And if you cast your mind back to 2014, you may remember that she filled in for Holly during her maternity leave. At the time, co-host Phillip Schofield shared the news on Twitter, stating that he was “really looking forward to working with lovely @Amanda_Holden again”.
A regular on This Morning, Rylan often takes to the sofa to share showbiz news – let’s never forget that Britney Spears interview – and has also been known to present the mid-morning show.
Rylan has stepped in for Holly before, and the former X Factor star has also previously held the This Morning mantel alongside Big Brother co-host Emma Willis and, most recently, Gok Wan.
Which brings us to…
The fashion consultant got rave reviews for his recent appearance hosting the show with Rylan.
And he’s no stranger to This Morning either, regularly leading style segments.
Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford
This pair are the obvious choice, particularly if Phillip Schofield ends up taking a break too (who knows?)
Eamonn and Ruth even announced the big I’m a Celeb news just moments after it was confirmed by ITV.
When Holly called in sick last year – Schofe announced to viewers that she “got up and threw up all over the cat” – it was Sarah that filled in at the last minute to accompany Phil on air.
More than 20 years after joining forces to host Going Live!, fans were excited to see them together again.
Christine Lampard (née Bleakley)
Known for presenting shows across the BBC and ITV, Christine also helped to fill in for Holly when she was away in 2014.
Christine also worked alongside Phil while presenting Dancing on Ice from 2012 to 2014. That said, it’s less likely she’ll step in for Holly – she’s just gone on maternity leave after guest-hosting Lorraine for a few weeks over the summer, and is due to welcome her baby in early autumn.
ITV has said that it will announce hosting plans for This Morning in due course.
