Who is Victoria Wood's ex-husband Geoffrey Durham and did they have kids?

VICTORIA Wood was a legend of the screen, and a woman of many talents.

Her husband of many years was also a talented showman, but in the field of magic. Here's more about Victoria's ex Geoffrey Durham…

Who is Victoria Wood's ex-husband Geoffrey Durham?

Durham is a comedy magician and actor.

He was known by the stage name the Great Soprendo.

Born in East Molesey in Surrey, Durham started practising magic at a very young age.

Uninterested in pursuing magic as a career, Durham  studied Spanish at Leeds University and began a career as an actor.

However, when rehearing for a stage role that included magic tricks, Durham rediscovered his childhood love for magic – and decided to become a magician.

Known for the catchphrase was "Piff Paff Poof!", Durham appeared in various children's TV shows including Crackerjack.

He is also a member of the Inner Magic Circle and has appeared as a contributor for the Channel 4 game show Countdown.

Durham has also worked as a magic consultant on the Doctor Who story The Greatest Show in the Galaxy in 1988, helping Sylvester McCoy to perfect an on-screen magic show.

The showman is also a Quaker.

He has described his life with the religious denominations as "the single most inspiring, moving and rewarding thread running through the whole of my adult life"

When were they married?

Victoria was married to Geoffrey Durham, for 22 years before splitting in 2002.

Durham remarried in December 2014 to business psychologist Helen Morris Brown.

The pair remained living close to each other until Victoria's death in 2016. Geoffrey was reportedly at Wood's bedside when she died.

Victoria left her £4 million home in north London to her grown-up children Grace and Henry.

They also got her Lake District cottage in Ambleside but were asked not to sell it “so long as it’s enjoyed by family”.

However, Durham received nothing from his ex-wife's £9.3 million estate when she died in 2016.

Did they have kids?

Yes, they had two children: born 1 October 1988 and Henry, born 2 May 1992.

Grace is a mezzo-soprano member of the Glyndebourne Opera chorus.

Son Henry is also in the music industry. He left university after he was offered a job in music and began songwriting.

Daughter Grace said, following her mother's death, that Victoria only begrudgingly told people about her illness and would have rather have kept even the cancer battle private.

She said: "She shared what she had to but, given the choice, I think she'd have shared none of it."
