The Paramount Network renewed Yellowstone for a fourth season in February 2020, four months before the season three premiere.

The season four renewal comes as no surprise, considering the show averages around five million viewers per episode, according to Variety.

The previous three seasons of Yellowstone have premiered in June, so fans can expect season four to arrive in summer 2021.

Season four of Yellowstone could face delays due to the current coronavirus pandemic, which has halted the production of the majority of television shows and films.

Fans should, therefore, be prepared for a later release date than anticipated.

Speaking to Deadline after the show’s renewal, co-creator Taylor Sheridan shared some filming details for season four.

He said: “We’re supposed to start mid-August, and we’re putting that together as best we can.

“I’m fortunate that this show shoots on a ranch in Montana.

“We’re going to shoot exclusively there this year, or in and around it.

“So we’ve got the crew and the cast up there, and it’s in an area of the state that has no active [coronavirus] cases now.” will update this article when more information is available.

The entire main cast is expected to return for the fourth series of Yellowstone.

This means two-time Oscar-winning actor Kevin Costner will be back as John Dutton, the owner of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.

Costner also serves as an executive producer on Yellowstone.

Britannia’s Kelly Reilly should be back as Beth Dutton, John’s daughter.

American Sniper’s Luke Grimes is also likely to reprise his role as Kayce Dutton, John’s youngest son.

Speaking to Pop culture in 2019, Grimes has said Yellowstone is his favourite acting role to date.

He said: “This is my favourite character I’ve ever played, and my favourite world as far as a story I’ve ever been a part of.”

Also likely to return is American Beauty’s Wes Bentley as Jamie Dutton, John’s other son and Good Will Hunting’s Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler, John’s business partner and ranch handler.

At the moment, it is unknown if season three antagonist Dan Jenkins, played by Danny Huston, will feature in the fourth season.

Huston is best known for his roles in American Horror Story and the films Birth, The Aviator and The Constant Gardener.

What will happen in Yellowstone season 4?

At the moment it is hard to predict what will happen in season four of Yellowstone.

This is because the series finale of Yellowstone has still not aired yet.

The season finale of Yellowstone season four will air on Sunday, August 23 on Paramount Network.

Unfortunately, a synopsis for the season finale or an episode title has not been made available.

The fourth series will most likely see the Dutton family enter more conflicts as they expand their cattle ranch.

Speaking to Good House Keeping, Florrie J. Smith who plays Lloyd: “It’s really just a lot more of the ‘Don’t mess with the Duttons’ attitude [in season four].”
