After a shocking season three finale of Yellowstone, fans have been patiently waiting since August 2020 for the highly anticipated instalments. Ahead of its release actress Jen Landon made an interesting revelation about the moment she found out her character Teeter would receive the brutal branding.
Teeter (played by Jen Landon) was first introduced on the second episode of season three as the Texan ranch hand who came looking for work on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.
Since she entered, fellow Ranch Hand Colby (Denim Richards) had his eyes set on her and admired her hard work.
Although they would flirt, the two only became close after a near-death experience thrust them to the forefront of the series.
In season three, Teeter had convinced Colby to join her skinny-dipping but their fun time was cut short after they were disturbed by Wade Marrow (Boots Southerland.
He was furious and looking to hurt their boss, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) but instead took it out on Teeter and Colby.
In the brutal scene, Wade and his son attacked the pair with whips, even while they were still naked.
They then went on to trample on them while they were gasping for air underwater.
Thankfully they survived but this was one of many brutal scenes Tetter had to undergo while working at the Dutton Ranch.
After the ordeal, Teeter and Colby both received their branding after witnessing the murder of Wade and his son Clint (Brent Walker).
In a recent YouTube discussion with her fellow co-stars, actress Jessica Landon shared why the scene left her in tears.
When asked if her character was now capable of violence, she revealed: “I figured Teeter was always capable of violence, I just remember thinking as I was looking into Cole Hauser’s eyes as Teeter I was like ‘bring it’.”
Cole Hauser, who played Rip Wheeler, another Ranch Hand on the series was in charge of branding the duo.
She shared: “My big thing when I came on the show and my dream was I just wanted to get branded, that’s all I wanted, was to get branded.”
Jessica continued: “And so episode nine, I’m reading the script I see that I get branded and I literally burst into tears like full miss universe ugly cry, it was this huge moment.”
“What I think could be interesting is that the loyalty to the brand might come second to the loyalty I have to you,” she said as she pointed at Denim Richards, “ and I think that could be an interesting thing.”
“While being branded in a bonding experience I think it’s a secondary bonding experience to near death,” she added.
Throughout the series, viewers learned the importance and how respected a character became after being branded.
It was a badge of honour and signified others who had also been branded had the duty of defending them with their lives unless they were betrayed.
After the whole ordeal with Teeter and Colby, when the group had caught them, they ripped his branding off his chest because of his actions.
They were branded with the Yellowstone logo, which was a ‘Y’ and after it was heated on a fire, it was burned into their skin.
Yellowstone season 4 premieres on Paramount Network in the USA on November 7. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
