Amsterdam 'stabbing in Central train station sparks panic as cops shoot suspect'

Worried passengers shared images of emergency teams treating the victims by the tram lines.

Cops confirmed the suspect and the two victims were transferred to a nearby hospital.

Centraal Station was temporarily evacuated and the west tunnel shut down while police investigate the attack.

Several ambulances were seen parked outside the building as shocked travellers watched on.

The knifeman has not been identified and the motive for the stabbing is not immediately clear.

Centraal is a busy entry and exit point for visitors to the Dutch capital, with regular trains linking it to the city's Schiphol Airport.

Friday is one of the busiest days of the week, with many tourists arriving for the weekend.

Police have said two platforms were closed to train traffic.
