Becca Kufrin’s “Bachelorette” journey might’ve begun with heartbreak, but the parade of glittering gowns the Minnesotan publicist has modeled onscreen over the past few months are proof that looking good is the best revenge.
According to the franchise’s longtime stylist Cary Fetman, however, the reality show’s “sparkliest season yet” didn’t start out that way.
“Everybody thinks I have such a strong say in what [the season lead] wears, but they all come in with some idea of how they want to look,” Fetman told Page Six.
He explained that during their initial meetings, Kufrin, 28, specifically requested sequin-free looks because she “didn’t want to be that girl.” But once she saw a few sparkly gowns amongst the racks, “everything flew out the window” as “she fell in love with the fantasy of it all.”
Fetman admitted that Kufrin scrapping her self-imposed style rule actually made his job harder. “I get panicky, looking up photos to make sure each look isn’t something I’ve already done,” he said. “And especially this season, I found myself having to compare [Becca’s season] to others.”
The solution? A focus on strong silhouettes over feminine ruffles, plus a hefty helping of Kufrin’s favorite color. “She loves red,” Fetman said. “It got to the point where we had to beg her to choose different colors, just to mix it up!”
