AFTER numerous reports of Brian Laundrie sightings on a traffic scanner, cops have vowed to "tell the world" when he's in custody.
The search for the missing man continues while a report claimed law enforcement officials had said they did "everything they could" to keep an eye on Laundrie before his disappearance.
Rumors that someone matching Laundrie's description had been spotted in the area, circulated on social media but authorities said they were untrue.
The Sarasota Police Department tweeted: "We’ve received several inquiries via social media, email and phone calls. Despite rumors and possible sightings, #BrianLaundrie is NOT IN THE CUSTODY of our agency at this time. Any information? Please call 1-800-CALL-FBI or http://tips.fbi.gov
Meanwhile, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office tweeted: "We understand interest in scanner traffic however, it is how we communicate.
"It is real-time & changes by the second. We have received several reports of Brian Laundrie sightings & there may be more.
"Please know that we will tell the world if & when we have him in custody."
The 23-year-old is currently a person of interest in the case of his fiancee, Gabby Petito.
The couple were in the middle of a four-month-long trip across America but only Laundrie returned to his parents' home in Florida.
Petito, 22, was reported missing on September 11, and her body was later discovered in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.

Her death was ruled as a homicide but the cause of death hasn’t been revealed.
Two days before her body was found, on September 17, Laundrie's parents reported him missing after claiming he went on a hike and never returned.
His Ford Mustang was found 16 miles from the site, according to a redacted vehicle report.
PERSON OF INTEREST
Laundrie has since been declared a person of interest by police as they investigate the circumstances behind Gabby's disappearance.
He has not been named as a suspect.
On September 23, the FBI issued an arrest warrant for the 23-year-old when he "knowingly and with intent to defraud" used a bank card that was later revealed to be Gabby Petito's.
Earlier this week his dad Christopher Laundrie joined authorities in the search for his son at the 25,000-acre Carlton Reserve.
The Laundrie family lawyer Steven Bertolino said in a statement that Chris Laundrie assisted police with the search effort at Carlton Reserve.
“The entire Laundrie family is grateful for the hard work of the dedicated members of law enforcement,” he said.
There have been a series of alleged sightings in multiple states as well as Mexico, Canada, and some believe he’s hiking the Appalachian Trail.
It comes as online sleuths have questioned an Instagram photo posted by Laundrie on July 2020 with the caption "til death do us part."
The couple celebrated their engagement but their wedding was postponed due to Covid.
