Bystander injured by stray bullet in Brooklyn dies, cops say

A bystander who was struck by a stray bullet in Brooklyn over the weekend has died of his injuries, cops said.

Jose Celis, 58, was struck as shots rang out following a collision between a white Kia Sorento and a blue Infiniti close to Barclays Center at around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, cops said.

The Kia struck the Infiniti on 4th Avenue near Pacific Street in Boerum Hill — prompting the Infiniti driver to give chase, trailing behind the Kia, authorities said.

Then the Kia driver allegedly opened fire, inadvertently striking Celis as he crossed the street.

The Infiniti driver called 911, and responding EMS workers rushed Celis to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he died two days later.

Celis was staying at a nearby shelter, according to police sources — though officials provided an address for him in Sunnyside, Queens.

Following the incident, cops found the Kia abandoned in a parking lot at the nearby Wyckoff Houses, the sources said.

The driver, however, remains at large.
