This bear’s a few steps away from passing a driving test.
A startling video shows a black bear standing on its hind legs; opening the passenger door of a pickup truck and making off with a picnic bag it swiped from the back seat.
The deft bruin can be seen sniffing around the car before tossing aside a cooler of drinks and snatching the bag in its mouth.
The impressive display was filmed in Colorado from inside an adjacent building, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.
Bears have become increasingly crafty in finding food, opening doors to cars and homes in search of nourishing morsels.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife fielded more than 5,000 reports of bears rummaging in garbage, homes and cars between April 1 and Dec. 31 of last year.
Bears broke into more than 300 vehicles and 500 homes during that period, according to the agency, which in February produced a five-minute long montage of home footage of bears destroying car interiors and running off with massive garbage bins left outside homes.
The remarkable number of encounters can be attributed to an increasing number of residents moving into bear habitats as well as a scarcity of natural food resources for the animals, which can drive the bears to take risks to stay sated, according to Parks and Wildlife.
“We see reports like this go up and down based on the local food availability,” wrote Jason Clay, the department’s spokesman, earlier this year.
“In years where there are less natural food sources, there seems to be more bears that are bold enough to break into houses and vehicles.”
