Did Joe Biden call Donald Trump George?

Biden appeared to stumble over his words in an interview with George Lopez  – and said the Democrats were fighting against “four more years of George”.

The Democrat said: "Four more years of George – we're going to find ourselves in a position where, if Trump gets elected, we're going to be in a different world."

His wife Jill then appears to quietly correct him under her breath, and Biden reverts back to saying “Trump”.

It is believed Biden confused Trump with Bush, who was president from 2001 to 2009.

When did it happen?

The gaffe occurred as Biden was speaking to supporters at a virtual concert on Sunday October 25.

Biden has continued to shun rallies over coronavirus fears – though his rival Donald Trump has held multiple rallies across the nation.

The VP has previously forgotten Mitt Romney's name, claimed 200million Americans have died of Covid-19, and repeatedly said he is running for "Senate" in 2020.

What has Trump said?

Donald Trump was quick to mock his Democrat rival following the fumble.

Speaking at a rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Monday October 26, the president lashed out at Biden for the gaffe.

"Did you see when he called me George?" Trump asked the crowd of Biden.

"I don't know if I like George," he said. "What a mess. He called me George."

Trump said he doesn't know whether he "should be insulted or happy about it," before saying he was "sort of insulted."

The President also lashed out on Twitter on the same day.

He wrote: “Joe Biden called me George yesterday. Couldn’t remember my name. Got some help from the anchor to get him through the interview. The Fake News Cartel is working overtime to cover it up!”

Trump has repeatedly highlighted Biden's blunders as a sign of apparent senility.

The President even outright claimed Biden had dementia earlier this month, saying it was "obvious and rapidly getting worse".

But despite the Democrat's gaffes, he retains a strong lead in the polls heading into the election on November 3.
