The American born model began her career at age just 14, shooting catalogue campaigns for Kohl’s and Nordstrom as well as having small acting roles.

After appearing on the cover of erotic magazine treats! in 2012, she went on to bag a part in two high-profile music videos, most notably Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines video, which catapulted her to worldwide fame.

Emily explained how after years of giving herself a tough time and feeling like she’d ‘failed’ she now feels in control of her career as she’s able to easily brush aside criticism and self-doubt.

She explained: ‘There are so many times when I felt like a failure. I am very hard on myself in general. Early on that would be not getting an audition or getting close to booking a job and missing it and it felt like everything was collapsing.

‘What I like now is that, in my career, things are more in my hands and in my control. Failures feel more like road bumps than huge losses and I feel less impacted by other people saying no.’

And despite reaching a level of success in her vocation, the star said at one point, she almost left modelling altogether and considered being an artist after studying fine art at the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture.

She said: ‘There have been so many times in my career where I have thought about changing career paths or giving up. I stopped totally modelling when I went to college and I thought I was going to become an artist and then I left and started modelling full time and then I sort of dabbled in acting.’

Emily added that she feels like she’s ‘constantly evolving’, emphasising that she’s ‘not giving up’ but is ‘refocusing.’

Meanwhile, Emily was keen to pass on her advice to the next generation of aspiring models as she warned against agencies and said how the industry need to ‘change’ to ‘protect’ young women.

She urged that girls need to ‘learn to have your own limits’ as well as boundaries and to ‘take care’ of themselves within an industry who are not  really ‘protecting’ them.

London-born Emily now boasts a flourishing life and career, with the stunner happily married to Sebastian Bear-McClard, with the couple sharing 10-month-old son Sylvester.

Though she has continued to focus on her modeling career, Emily recently branched out with her first essay collection, My Body, which was released in November.

The collection features several pieces that delve into how her body has been perceived and judged by people due to her modeling career.

Prior to the collection’s release, she courted headlines after an excerpt leaked in which she accused singer Robin Thicke of sexually assaulting her during the filming of his Blurred Lines video.

She accused Thicke of ‘groping’ her bare breasts behind the scenes of the 2013 music video in an essay named after the song.

She said she wrote about her experiences filming the video because ‘it says so much about the evolution of my beliefs and politics.’

She added that it was initially a good experience, as she was ‘surrounded by women I liked and trusted,’ but Thicke’s alleged assault changed her perception of the set.
