Surveillance footage captured the moment a top leader of a Latin American drug gang dressed as woman to escape a prison in Paraguay.

César Ortíz, who is also known as ‘Gordito Lindo’ or ‘Cute Chubby,’ evaded the security protocol at the notorious Tacumbú National Penitentiary in the country’s capital Asunción on May 29.

The 36-year-old, identified as the second person in command of the Rotela Clan’s operations, received a jail visit from a woman, who accompanied him to a private room, local media outlets reported.

At some point during the visit, he swapped his prison garb for an olive blouse and blue skirt.

Ortíz painted his finger nails with white polish, added fake eyelashes, applied makeup to his face and threw on a wig.

Authorities said Ortíz went undetected as he walked through several checkpoints before a guard opened the jail exit gate.

Cops spotted Ortíz several blocks away from the prison and arrested three other people, who were allegedly part of the jail break plot as they were about to drive him away to a hideout in Paraguay’s central region. 

Ortíz was taken to the Emboscada National Penitentiary in municipality of Emboscada – 32 miles away from Asunción.

Jessica Salinas called on authorities to transfer her husband back to the Tacumbú National Penitentiary over concerns that jail guards could not guarantee his well-being at the Emboscada prison.

The Rotela Clan is in an ongoing battle for control of the drug trade in Paraguay’s prison system with the First Capital Command – Brazil’s most powerful prison gang and cocaine exporter.

The Justice Ministry ordered an investigation into at least 20 jail guards in connection to Ortíz’s escape.

At least four people have been taken into custody, including Rolón Figueroa, who was reenlisted to the San Pedro police department in June 2021 after serving a six-year drug trafficking sentence.

One of the other jail escape accomplices was identified as Víctor Paredes, Ortiz’s brother-in-law.

He was wanted for the March 1 murder of a woman employed as a maid by the Insfrán clan, a well-known family allegedly involved in drug trafficking and money laundering.

In February 2021, Ortíz led a riot at the jail after officials discovered an underground tunnel that was under construction for a planned escape.

At least seven inmates were decapitated for allegedly revealing the plan.

Ortíz was charged with murder, hostage taking, organizing a prison riot and for being associated with a criminal organization.
