NORTH Korea takes steps to show dictator Kim Jong-un is alive and well — by issuing a snap of him striding out in baggy trousers and a cap.
The 36-year-old had been rumoured to be in a coma, with some powers switched to his sister Kim Yo-jong, 32.
But he was shown apparently visiting an area damaged by a typhoon.
The country’s official news agency said it had also pictured him at a meeting in capital city Pyongyang.
Recently mystery deepened over the whereabouts of Kim Jong-un’s sister with speculation she has been purged by her brother — who is famed for executing rivals.
Kim Yo-jong had been widely tipped to take over command of North Korea after her tyrant sibling vanished from the public eye himself, with rumours he was gravely ill or dead.
But it has emerged Yo-jong has now been missing for more than a month.
Rumours gathered pace that Kim Jong-un was in a coma and power was about to pass to her.
The dictator’s 32-year-old loyal sister had been becoming more and more visible over the past year and it was believed that she was second in command in the hermit kingdom.
But then suddenly pictures of the enigmatic North Korean dictator began circulating showing him seemingly fit and well.
Yet Yo-jong has not been seen in public since July 27 amid fears she has fallen foul of her vindictive and paranoid sibling who is famed for executing anyone he perceives as a rival.
North Korea expert Professor Nam Sung-wook, of Korea University, told The Chosun Ilbo her increasing profile could be her downfall.
