KLM lose comic's bags before tracker showed luggage had arrived

How infuriating! KLM lose Edinburgh Fringe comic Michelle Brasier’s bags – then her tracker shows luggage has arrived at Scottish airport… and the airline STILL don’t find them

A comic whose bags were lost by airline KLM when she flew in for the Edinburgh Fringe festival was still unable to get them back even after her tracker showed they had arrived at the Scottish airport.

Australian comedian Michelle Brasier travelled from Amsterdam for the festival on July 29 with musicians Tim Lancaster and Jordan White.

But the group soon discovered that their six pieces of luggage, which contained thousands of pounds worth of equipment, costumes and instruments for their show, had not come with them.

AirTag tracking devices reportedly showed the bags were still in Amsterdam when the group landed, before the trackers then showed the luggage had made its way to Edinburgh.

When she went to retrieve her bags, the comic said she was told by airport staff that they couldn’t track them down – despite the AirTags showing the location of the luggage as just 165ft away from them.

After the bags arrived in Edinburgh, airport staff told Brasier that they were unable to locate the bags, The Times reports.

Three days later, her tracking system showed three had been moved into the arrivals area for collection.

Meanwhile the other three remained stuck in a part of the airport which the public cannot access.

Brasier told the paper: ‘A lovely man who worked at the airport tried to help us but he didn’t have the authority to get our bags for us. Our AirTags were showing the bags were 50 metres from us.

‘We begged, ‘please just let us go grab them, they’re right there. We just wanna do our little show’.

‘But he wasn’t allowed to, and wasn’t able to go and get anyone with more authority to help us.

‘KLM keep telling us they will be delivered to us when they are found — but we’ve found them and they have been at the airport for three days.’

She said she has repeatedly phoned and emailed Swissport, the company that handles baggage for KLM, but to no avail.

The award-winning comic attempted to make light of her predicament online, tweeting on Monday: ‘If you work at Edinburgh Airport and can help me with my 6 lost bags hit me up baby! Wahoo!’

Swissport has said it is working on reuniting the bags with Brasier and her team.

MailOnline has approached the company and KLM for comment.

It comes after data showed that the number of mishandled baggage globally almost doubled in 2022.

The statistics, collated by SITA, showed that 26 million pieces of luggage were either delayed, lost or damaged as airline travel bounced back post-pandemic.
