UK rock legend Liam Gallagher is no stranger to locking horns with his critics online.

And the controversial Oasis frontman was at it again this weekend out at an Australian journalist for awarding him just 3.5 stars for his show in Sydney on Saturday night.

Gallagher, 49, who performed at Aware Super Theatre to promote his new album ‘C’MON YOU KNOW’, unleashed at Sydney Morning Herald reporter George Palathingal on Twitter after reading his lacklustre review on Sunday morning.

‘Thanks [sic] for your review last night George it’s good to know you didn’t have a BIBLICAL time like the rest of us. Onwards n sideways you massive p**sflap,’ the British crooner tweeted.

He also posted a second tweet lambasting the journalist for giving him an extra half star instead of a fourth.

‘And don’t insult yourself with the half you SQUARE,’ he raged.

Palathingal’s review both praised and criticised Gallagher’s performance.

While the writer branded Gallagher an ‘iconic act’ who ‘had more charisma’ than the rest of Oasis ‘put together’, he also made several jibes about the quality of Gallagher’s recent solo work.

‘Liam will occasionally detour into his solo material, but only long enough for you to duck out and grab another beer, before he returns to the Oasis songs you want to hear,’ he writs.

Palathingal also accuses Gallagher of failing to engage his audience, writing: ‘There’s less wit than usual between tunes, in its stead too much boorish football talk, but maybe he was having an off night in that regard.’

Manchester-born Gallagher is currently on a tour of Australian and New Zealand, and is set to play at Sydney’s Splendour In The Grass on Sunday.

It comes after Gallagher recently promised to continue with his raucous ways until he’s 80.

He said in Sky documentary Liam Gallagher: 48 Hours At Rockfield: ‘I am not into yoga and I don’t eat tofu. I drink lager and I like to have a good time. I don’t punish myself into being some super-skinny dude.

‘I am what I am. I am not a 50-year-old going round preaching. I will be like this when I am f**king 80, hopefully.’

Elsewhere in the programme, Liam revealed Oasis secretly split in the nineties, long before they finally went their separate ways in 2009.

While making their 1995 album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales, Liam and his brother Noel, 54, had a huge fight after going to the pub.

Liam said: ‘We were there about six months.

‘We split up, then we got back together. There was a bit of fighting, there was a cricket bat, there was an air pistol, there was lots of drinking.’

Oasis split up back in 2009 after a feud between Liam and his brother Noel reportedly led to the departure of the latter, ultimately splitting up the band (L-R Gem, Noel Gallagher, Andy Bell and Liam Gallagher in 2006)
